  • In the High Energy Physics research group, I provide specifications and development of the detectors used for experimental research. My efforts are coordinated between Florida State University, Fermi National Laboratory, Illinois, and the Center for European Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • I design and install support systems and equipment for the components used in the High Energy Physics experiments and in the Detector Development Laboratory. Redesign and modification of commercial and locally developed devices helps to improve the capabilities of present research equipment.
  • I also prepare and evaluate bid specifications for the major components manufactured by industry. By visiting the site, I am able to see their method of construction, the machines to be used, and the manpower available for the project's completion. In order to conclude the evaluation, the prototype and a sample of the components are placed in high energy beams. Their responses are measure using CAMAC or VME.
  • Because the detectors are in a high radiation area with their components susceptible to radiation damage, measurement of this damage is required. I am in charge of the radiation damage testing and analysis. Progress reports and results are given at conferences and workshops.

Background: In use of computers and software, such as AUTOCAD, of test equipment including computer aided deviced, and of basic machine shop tools.
