Complex Systems

We study systems whose free energy landscape is complex in the sense that there are multiple minima, separated by large free energy barriers. Such systems are encontered in:

  • Material Science, for instance spin glasses.

    - Picture show of Spin Glass Realizations

  • Biophysics, a central problem is protein folding.

  • Optimization, classical is the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP).
