learn the subject of mechanics and some interesting and important
applications, as defined in the Topics list above;

familiar with the formulation and solution of physical problems by
application of the mathematical techniques of vectors, calculus and
differential equations;

concepts and methods which will be useful in the study of other, more
modern, branches of physics;

experience with the mathematics package Maple as an aid to
