Accommodation - Hotels

Conference participants are expected to make their own lodging arrangements. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Radisson Hotel and the Cabot Lodge. Conference participants are offered a reduced rate; to benefit from it, you have to mention "Physics in Collision" when making your reservation, and make your reservations before May 27, 1994.

Distance to the conference center is about 1.2 miles (2km). Transportation to the conference center will be available. The hotel will provide a complimentary van shuttle to and from the airport.

Distance from the conferece center is about 3.6 miles (5.8km). Transportation to the conference center will be provided.

Alternative Accommodations:

A limited number of low-price dormitory style rooms (with private bathroom) is also available. Please contact the conference secretariat if you are interested. These rooms will be preferentially given to participants whose financial support is limited.

Communication:

Several terminals dedicated to electronic communication will be set up at the Conference Center. They will enable you to connect with your home facility via internet to receive and send your e-mail as usual.

Parking:

The number of parking spaces at the Conference Center is very limited. We strongly recommend that you leave your car at the hotel parking lot and use the bus service that will be provided to get to the conference center.

Weather:

At the time of the conference the local weather is expected to be pleasant and warm, sometimes rather humid, with daytime temperatures in the eighties (around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius).

Access to Tallahassee:

By plane: Service to Tallahassee Regional Airport is offered by three commercial airlines (Delta, USAir, American Eagle).

By car: Four major federal highways run through Tallahassee: U.S. Highways 90, 27, and 319, and Interstate 10. I-10 connects Tallahassee with Jacksonville to the east and Pensacola and New Orleans to the West.

By bus (this might be an adventure): Greyhound-Trailways Bus Lines provides intercity service between Tallahassee and almost all major cities in the U.S.

Public Transportation in Tallahassee:

The City of Tallahassee operates a bus system (TalTran) which provides public transportation across the town. Information will be available at the conference center.

Rental Cars:

Most of the major rental car companies have branches at the Tallahassee Regional Airport and/or in the downtown area. Reservations have to be made directly with the respective company.
